What do I need so that I can hear podcasts?
The first thing you need is podcast subscription software to manage your podcast subscriptions. After you download free podcast subscription software you can listen to podcast audio from your computer. Below are some free options:
The latest iTunes release integrates podcasting into the program. We recommend iPodder for Windows/Mac/Linux or iPodderX for Mac. Both interface with iTunes. Once you download and install the podcasting software, you can subscribe to audio content.
Note: Your computer must be able to play MP3 audio files and have a sound card. If you want to make your podcasts portable, you will need to transfer them from your computer to a portable media device.
How do I subscribe to a podcast?
To subscribe to the Quitcast podcast:
- Click the [POD] subscription link. Right-click this link (or Control-click in MacOS) and select “Copy Link Location” or “Copy Shortcut.”
- Paste the link into your podcasting software.
I subscribed to a podcast. Why don’t I hear anything?
Several things could be happening here:
- Confirm that you have audio player software downloaded on your computer.
- Check that the correct audio file was downloaded to your computer. You may need to modify the update settings in your podcasting software to ensure that this process occurs automatically.
- Check the update times in the description and make sure that a new edition has been posted.
What if I don’t have an MP3 player?
If you don’t have an MP3 player you can click manually and listen to this week’s Quitcast. You can also use iTunes or podcasting software to subscribe and have new issues of the Quitcast downloaded to your PC and played on your computer.
