Staying Tobacco Free Rocks

Everyone who uses tobacco likes something about it. Maybe you use tobacco when you want to relax, take a break, have a drink, or calm your nerves. Tobacco users often smoke or chew while doing fun things, like hanging out with friends or grabbing a break. So, they think of using tobacco as fun, too.

When you quit, you’ll find lots of things to like about being tobacco free. It will take some time to adjust—and you’ll definitely miss smoking or chewing for a while—but there are so many good things about being tobacco free. When you quit using tobacco, you’ll be amazed at what you’ll gain.

What’s so great about being tobacco free?

  • You’ll be proud of yourself—quitting is hard and you’ve done it!
  • It is easier to enjoy healthy activities. Just imagine going for a run and not being short of breath because you smoke.
  • You’ll get more work done because you won’t have to stop and start projects when you take time out to use tobacco.
  • Your sense of smell and taste will return. Food will taste better, too.
  • You’ll love how good it feels to take deep breaths.
  • After you’ve quit, that antsy feeling will go away (seriously, it doesn’t feel like it ever will at the beginning, but it fades). No more staring at the clock and figuring out when you can smoke or dip.
  • Goodbye to the smell of stale smoke. Your home, car, and clothes will smell better. And let’s not even talk about your breath. No more yellow teeth or tobacco grains stuck against your gums.
  • And don’t forget the money. Use this tobacco calculator to figure out how much money you’ll save. It adds up fast!

It will be good for others, too.

  • Kids look up to you, and this will give them one more reason to be proud. The best way to teach kids to stay away from tobacco is by your example. They want to be like you and do what you do.
  • Your wife, husband, girlfriend, or boyfriend—whoever kisses you—will be thrilled you quit.
  • You won’t feel embarrassed and see that grossed-out look when people find out you use tobacco. You’ll fit into our increasingly nonsmoking society.
  • Maybe you’ll even inspire someone else to quit.
