If you’re trying to quit smoking or kick chewing tobacco, you’ve come to the right place because now you can create your own Quit Space. In this new section, you can access special features and create customized tools to help you succeed. The Quit Plan, Quit Calendar, and brand-new Quit Blog are designed to give you the support you need to reach your goal and quit smoking or chewing for good.
You know quitting tobacco is the smart thing to do for yourself, your family, and friends, but it’s a real challenge, especially for service members. You don’t have to go it alone. If you resolve to quit, we resolve to help.
You can choose the support tools you want to use—blogging, downloading a customized quit plan or quit calendar, or all three! It’s fun, interactive, and easy to put these features to work for you. Just register to create a free account—all you need is a user name and e-mail account.
Now you are ready to get started!
Create your own Quit Blog
Your Quit Blog can help you quit smoking or chewing and stay tobacco free. It allows you to hold yourself accountable and document your journey, expressing your thoughts and responses to the challenges along the way.
Here’s how to get your quit blog up and running:
- Select a template for your blog. Choose a service-specific theme to apply to your blog so that all your posts include your service logo and colors. It’s also a way for others in your service to find you, should you decide to make your blog public.
- Start blogging. This is an opportunity for you to collect your thoughts and track your quit attempts. Record your day-to-day experiences and monitor your progress. Remember, it takes the average smoker 11 times to successfully quit. The key to success is to not give up!
- Publish your thoughts and connect with others. Share your story with your fellow service men and women who are quitting tobacco, too. You can also invite friends and family to check on your progress as you post comments and invite your family and friends to post their comments and notes of encouragement. You can also keep your blog private.
Customize and download your Quit Plan
If you’re just getting started, visit the Quit Plan section. This practical tool will help you plan your quit attempt and keep you on the road to success. You can also track your savings and make a list of what you will do with all the money you’ve saved by quitting tobacco. Setting up your Quit Plan just takes four easy steps. You’ll set a quit date, decide how you’ll quit, identify your triggers, and add up your savings. You can easily download your Quit Plan.
Put the date on your Quit Calendar
Create your personal Quit Calendar to help you prepare for your quit date and stay on track. The calendar gives you daily tips on how to get ready to say goodbye for good to tobacco, survive your quit date and that critical beginning stage, and stay tobacco free. Your calendar is also downloadable.
We look forward to seeing you on the blogs! As always, let us know how we can improve the support we are here to give you.
