Smoking in Movies: Why Your Brain Thinks It's Cool

A new study suggests that viewing smoking in a movie may activate brain areas linked to the physical habits of smoking, leading exsmokers to reach for a pack of cigarettes again. This new study shows that our bodies' combined responses to the content of cigarette smoke and the physical act of smoking leads to changes in brain activity that can drive the urge to smoke.
