The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) surveyed the 29 large-hub airports in the U.S. in 2009 and found that 22 were smoke-free. This is up from a 42 percent smoke-free rate in the 2002 survey. Of the seven that still allow smoking indoors, three -- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, Dallas/Fort Worth International, and Denver International -- are among the country's five busiest airports.
