CT Scans Seem to Lower Lung Cancer Death Rates

According to the National Lung Cancer Screening Trial (NLST) and the National Cancer Institute, annual screening for lung cancer with low-dose CT scans cut death rates in older, current, or former heavy smokers by 20 percent. Given the large numbers of Americans with lung cancer--the nation's leading cancer killer--a 20 percent drop in deaths could be significant.
