The debate over how menthol cigarettes should be regulated came to the surface again last month, during the second round of hearings held by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee. Research from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, in fact, suggests that menthols are more addictive, making it harder for smokers to quit, particularly blacks and Latinos.
