Ocean City, Maryland's elected officials have agreed to consider a ban on smoking on the beach. This move follows a similar ban at nearby Bethany Beach, Delaware, where smoking was banned on the beach and boardwalk during summer months. Many communities have moved to ban smoking in public venues in recent years in an effort to curb exposure to secondhand smoke and reduce the environmental impact of cigarette waste.
