Researchers at the University of California, Riverside report that stronger suction is required to smoke electronic cigarettes. The aerosol density dropped after the first ten puffs, requiring still stronger suction thereafter to produce aerosol. These products are being marketed as tobacco-free nicotine delivery systems. Having to inhale more deeply on these products may have adverse health effects.
