Genetics May Personalize Quit-Smoking Methods

New research shows that an individual's genetic profile combined with their level of nicotine dependence can help guide treatment decisions and maximize chances of permanently kicking the habit. In this Duke University study, people who were highly dependent on nicotine and had a certain genotype did better on a higher-dose nicotine patch.
