Researchers report that for American children exposure to second-hand smoke at home has dropped significantly since the mid-1990s. This is considered positive news, since exposure to secondhand smoke is known to cause lung problems, asthma, and ear infections, as well as contribute to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Smoking during pregnancy has also been linked to a host of psychological problems in children.
