The International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France reports that having higher blood levels of vitamin B6 and the amino acid methionine both appear to reduce lung cancer risk in both smokers and nonsmokers. In the U.S. alone, more than 219,000 new cases of lung cancer were expected in 2009, according to the American Cancer Society, with about 160,000 deaths.
