Congress Aims to Ban Chewing Tobacco From Majors

California Congressman Henry Waxman, the Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., Chair of the Health Subcommittee, held a hearing during which they urged baseball to prohibit major leaguers from using smokeless tobacco during games. The use of such products has been barred from the minors since 1993.
