Cities and states around the nation that have enacted and enforced smoking bans did not suffer a dramatic or permanent falloff in business at bars and restaurants, as owners had feared. According to the Ohio Restaurant Association, for example, smoking cessation has encouraged nonsmokers to enjoy nightlife and visit bars and restaurants more often.
