Under new Federal tobacco laws, cigarette companies will no longer be allowed to use words like “light” or “mild” on packages to imply that some cigarettes are safer than others. Critics condemned tobacco companies for flouting the spirit, if not the letter, of the law. For example, the packaging is almost exactly the same, but Philip Morris' Marlboro Lights are now being called "Marlboro Gold."
