Teen Survey Shows Drops in Meth Use, Smoking
12/15/2009

A National Institute on Drug Abuse survey released on Monday, December 12, 2009 found that methamphetamine use and smoking among U.S. teens has dropped significantly in recent years, but declines in marijuana use have stalled. Only 2.7 percent of eighth graders smoke daily, which is down from a peak rate of 10.4 percent in 1996. The 11.2 percent of high school seniors who say they smoke daily is less than half of the 24.6 percent rate reported in 1997.
