Risk of Depression Dims Hope for Anti-Addiction Pills

Pfizer's Chantix, a prescription anti-smoking drug that blocks pleasure centers in the brain, has been linked with raising the risk of depression and suicide. Chantix and other meds like it have been linked to dozens of reports of suicides and hundreds of suicidal behaviors. The makers of the new drugs insist they are safe, although perhaps not for everyone, such as people with a history of depression.
