Smoking Ban Reduces Heart Attacks
9/14/2009

The United Kingdom's ban on smoking in public places has triggered a greater-than-expected fall in the number of heart attacks. Heart attack rates dropped by about 10 percent in England in the year after the ban was introduced in July 2007. An even sharper decrease of 14 percent was reported in Scotland, where the ban was imposed a year earlier.
