New Study Expands the List of Hazardous Chemicals in Smokeless Tobacco

A study looking beyond the well-researched tobacco hazards of nitrosamines and nicotine discovered that a single pinch of smokeless tobacco exposes the user to the same amount of yet another group of dangerous chemicals as the smoke of five cigarettes. The specific dangers of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in smokeless tobacco products were presented at the 238th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
