A major change that will drastically alter a culture intertwined with smoking is heading toward the U.S. military. Pentagon and VA health experts are urging Defense Secretary Robert Gates to ban the use of tobacco by troops and end its sale on military property. The ban would be phased-in over a period of years, perhaps up to 20.
