Research found that in smokers' cars, no matter the amount of ventilation, the level of air pollution (measured as fine particles easily inhaled deeply into the lungs) was above the daily standard of exposure set by the EPA. With the windows closed, the levels were 11 times those of a smoky bar amd 100 times the air pollution standard. The researcher proposes banning smoking in cars with children present.
