A study conducted at the Center for Family and Community Health at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health indicates that Internet- and computer-based smoking cessation programs are a cost-effective alternative to more costly telephone hotlines or counseling services for smokers who are trying to quit. The rising cost of health care has resulted in the need to look for less expensive health programs that are effective.
