Major League Baseball officials, owners, and players are once again debating the need for an across the board policy regarding the use of smokeless tobacco products. Opponents of the products want people to remember the tragic tales of ex-ballplayers who suffered. The most famous is Babe Ruth, a frequent tobacco chewer, who died at age 52 from complications caused by a cancerous tumor in his throat.
