Doctors Urged to Get Aggressive to Help Smokers

According to two new studies, physicians need to treat smoking as a chronic disease that might require repeated or intensive interventions, including pharmacotherapy and counseling. Smokers are willing to make repeated medically-assisted attempts at quitting smoking, which results in progressively greater smoking abstinence.
