A dip of chewing tobacco nearly killed a soldier, who is slowly recovering from a nearly lethal dose of cyanide poisoning from a laced can of Skoal sold by locals in Afghanistan. The National Guard soldier suspects the poisoned chew came from one of the cans of tobacco he bought by his base in Gardaze. The military confirms that two soldiers suffered from cyanide poisoning recently and has forbidden Afghanis from selling the item at military bases.
