Smoking Exacerbates Progress of Crohn's Disease

The progress of Crohn's disease, a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines, worsens dramatically in smokers, according to researchers at the University in Frankfurt in Germany. Crohn's disease patients who smoke must undergo surgery and suffer the dangerous advanced stages of the disease more commonly than nonsmokers.
