The tobacco industry is advocating against a bill, passed by Congress and signed Wednesday by President Obama, that will extend health coverage to approximately 4 million children. Funding of more than $30 billion will be provided by huge tax increases on tobacco products. Opponents argue that places a disproportionate burden on North Carolina, where tobacco production remains an economic staple.
