Women Smokers Risk Losing 14.5 Years From Life Span

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is urging women to quit smoking, based on the fact that female smokers lose 14 years of life. Smoking is the main cause of lung cancer among women, who are also twice as likely to develop heart disease and face elevated risks of developing emphysema, bronchitis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, cataracts, lower bone density after menopause, and hip fracture.
