In a University of Auckland study in New Zealand, researchers found that of more than 1,100 smokers who had recently quit one-quarter said that they found the scent of other people's cigarettes pleasant during their first week of abstinence. Their response to the smell of tobacco did not hurt their chances of remaining tobacco free.
