A study, conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, which included 166 15- to 25-year-olds with and without attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, found that those with the disorder scored much higher on a questionnaire that measures physical dependence on nicotine. Adolescents who had a parent who smoked, friends who smoked, or lived with a smoker all tended to have more-severe nicotine addiction.
