Smoking, Gender Affect Pain Treatment Effectiveness

A Mayo Clinic study found that men do not respond as well as women to chronic pain treatment. Men who smoke appear to receive even less benefit from pain management therapy. Previous studies have also shown that smokers generally do not benefit as much as nonsmokers from pain management.
