Maine Wants to Extend Tobacco Reduction Successes to Other Drugs

The Governor of Maine, John Baldacci, is so pleased with the success of the state's smoking cessation and prevention initiatives, that he would like to replicate them to combat alcohol and drug abuse. Gov. Baldacci is confident that a community-based program infrastructure is needed to make the kind of progress in combating alcohol and drug abuse that has already been achieved. Maine recorded a 50 percent reduction in tobacco use.
