The Wicomico County (MD) NAACP is supporting a $1 cigarette tax increase. The tax income would support programs in a region where the rate of youth smoking is higher than the statewide Maryland average. The Maryland Citizens’ Health Initiative also has endorsements from the Talbot County Democrat Forum,the Talbot Partnership for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention, the American Cancer Society, and the AARP.
