The cost of basic family needs in this weak economy is increasing with $4 for a gallon of gas and $3 for a gallon of milk. People wanting to save an exorbitant amount of money should quit smoking. An $8 pack-a-day smoker who quits will save $2,920 in one year, $8,760 over the next three years, and $14,600 during the next five years, according to this letter to the editor.
