HealthJustice consultant Evita Ricafort is urging Philippine President Benigno Aquino III to institute a solid tobacco control program in the country to save more lives. The Philippines is a signatory to the World Health Organization's Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, an international treaty obliging its parties to institute tobacco control measures. The Philippines had a 2008 deadline to put effective health warnings on cigarette packs and has not yet complied.
