Mom's Smoking Affects Child's HDL Levels

A new study found that 8-year-old children of women who smoked during pregnancy had lower-than-normal levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, independent of smoke exposure after birth. HDL is considered to be the "good" cholesterol, an important measure for heart health.
