A West Palm Beach jury awarded a widow $2.5 million in damages in her lawsuit against Big Tobacco for the 1998 lung-cancer death of her 74-year-old husband, Dominick. Court records show that as far back as before World War II, internal documents show that not only were tobacco companies aware of tobacco hazards, but they deliberately prevented that knowledge from becoming public.
