Blood Clot Drug’s Benefit May Be Limited to Smokers

The drug clopidogrel (Plavix), which is used to prevent blood clots that may cause heart attacks or strokes, works in smokers but not in nonsmokers and light smokers. However, patients should not start or keep smoking in order to get the medication to work better.
